Welcome to Towpath Treks
This is my guide to walking on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. This site has hundreds of annotated photographs which I hope you will find interesting whether you enjoy walking, cycling or just taking a virtual trek along the towpaths of Britain's canals.
New for 2009! Coming soon: I am adding GoogleMaps to Towpath Treks! Also we will be adding a Amazon bookshop to the site and a Message Board for those thinking about cycling on the Leeds Liverpool Canal. This year the new canal link opened linking the North and South Docks in Liverpool. This site has photos showing the progress of the link construction over the last 3 years and of the finished canal link. And we will continue to up date the site as often as possible.
There is a large section devoted to the Leeds & Liverpool Canal with advice on cycling and walking its 127.25 miles. There are photographs of other canals in Britain. And there are guides to the things you will see on the canals, the wildlife, boats and architecture. To put it all in context there are a couple of pages about the history of English canals and the people who worked on them. The site is constantly updated so keep coming back and see whats new!
